Outside Business Development DekSmart
The Outside Representative is responsible for establishing and maintaining profitable relationships with customers on behalf of the company and for actively prospecting for new accounts and maximizing sales potential with existing customers.
As the Outside Sales Representative, you are a primary external representative of our organization; you must convey a sense of expertise in our product, services and capabilities, as you serve as a key educator for our accounts.
- Promote the DS lines using direct sales for DS, and support.
- Communicate with the office on any product issues that might arise in the field, work with the service team to resolve those issues.
- Support training programs for client’s reps and management.
- Field work, training, support, closing assistance to clients reps.
- Read blueprints, do take-offs for estimating purposes.
- Direct sales of DS, create new dealers and customers.
- Report frequently as required to sales manager.
- Minimum once a year, work in the plant for product update training, and service team meetings.
- Initiate growth in the USA marketplace while maintaining existing agreements and dealers.
- Grow existing dealer network in western Canada and create new dealer accounts.
- Follow systems and procedures put in place by the company.
- Participate is supporting the needs of operations, the sales manager, and the service team.
- Assist in development and promotion of contract processes.
- Prepare detailed reports and maintain detailed expense accounts.
- Follow and comply with the Deksmart and CenDek company rules and employee guidelines.
Sales & Marketing
• Identify prospects, customers, and referral sources and develop/maintain relationships to ensure attainment of company business goals. Support efforts to consistently grow the base of referral sources.
• Actively manage short-and-long term leads from external referral sources to qualify prospects and advance them through the sales process.
• Manage marketing data using applicable sales management systems or tools (e.g., database, computerized call calendars and time management systems) to maximize efficiency and analyze data/marketing activity on a bi- weekly basis.
• Effectively present and discuss the products and services of the company, soliciting only those desired products/services provided by the company and its vendors, to current and prospective customers in a way that conveys an image of quality, integrity and superior understanding and delivery of customer needs.
• Conduct on-site presentations, seminars, and education P.K.’s (product knowledge) that promote the use of our product.
• Perform market assessments, competitor analyses, pricing strategies. Draw conclusions from market assessment data on the competitive environment and the company’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and targets, and provide advice to the Sales Manager.
• Develop a strategic sales plan that identifies prospects and customers, prioritizes them according to importance and ability to provide results.
• Develop a call schedule to adequately cover territory and provide reports and data on results.
• Develop annual marketing strategy in conjunction with the Sales Manager, the General Manager, and the inside service team, and identify joint marketing opportunities where applicable.
• Investigate and resolves customer’s problems as to the best of your ability.
• Keep current on new technology.
• Understand and comply with the sales system/program in place.
You are a member of the Sales and Marketing Team and together you are accountable for meeting the monthly, quarterly and annual revenue and sales goals of the company. The sales and strategic marketing activities of your team will be designed to achieve these revenue goals.

Working Conditions:
• Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license, passport and be able to obtain a U.S. visa if required.
• Variable work environment: Work is conducted both indoors and out with varying environmental conditions.
• Several hours per day may be spent operating a motor vehicle, in accordance with workplace laws – frequent air travel is required.
• Appearance at all times must represent the company image.
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to the environments of customer facilities
• Fast-paced environment: subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.

Territory:
With exceptions to be noted and discussed with your sales manager your primary work territory is;
- British Columbia, Alberta, Washington, Idaho, Oregon.
- Saskatchewan, Montana.
- Manitoba, Northern Utah
Time in office / Territory:
You are generally expected to be (on the road) in your territory approximately 25% of the time from September to May. From May – September your field time will be reduced as the market dictates. When not traveling you are required to work from either a remote office or head office – normal office hours (approx. 40 hrs./ week).
If you are working remotely, it would be ideal to spend a minimum of 2 days at head office per month.
Time spend in the field cannot be banked so plan accordingly.
Service team;
Our service team is here to help you, and you are there to help them.
Service team duties include, but are not limited to; data entry, plan take offs and breakdown, inventory control, problem solving with clients, technical assistance, reception, specified management requested tasks, data processing, input/output, accounts receivable, accounts payable matching, pl statements, purchasing, procurement, sourcing, human resources, creation of documents including catalogs, eng specs, technical specs, bulletins, announcements, etc.
As you can see, the service team has a lot to do, and any help you can give is appreciated. Please teach your customers to problem solve before calling.
Reports directly to Ken Scott – General Sales Manager.
Remuneration – Salary plus commission ($55-60K + 2% to 5% commission range).
2 weeks holidays.
Benefits start after 90-day probation period.
Company Vehicle supplied for any BC travel.
Cell phone and laptop provided by employer.
